4 Reasons Why Investing In A FitBit Will Change Your Life For The Better

admin | February 6, 2020

For a while, I had been pondering over whether to invest in a FitBit. I say invest because those things are not cheap.

Starting from $49 and upwards, FitBit felt like a bit of a fad (to me). Of course, I’ve tried various pedometers over the years, so this felt like a glorified version.

FitBits are “activity trackers, wireless-enabled wearable technology devices that measure data such as the number of steps walked, heart rate, quality of sleep, steps climbed, and other personal metrics involved in fitness.”

Last year, I struggled with swollen ankles, insomnia, constant fatigue and shortness of breath. I wanted to take matters into my own hands and give my health the attention that it needed.

So we reach 2020, the year of self care and nursing myself back to better health, and I finally got my hands on a FitBit inspire HR. I have to say – this is the best decision I ever made.

Here is why FitBit has become my favorite new accessory and why you need one too.

  1. Keeps you motivated – Being able to see my steps has given me more self awareness and pushes me to keep on moving. Every hour, Fitbit encourages me to take 250 steps. It alerts me to get my steps in 10 minutes before the hour, if it detects that those steps have not been completed.
  2. Allows you to log in your food intake and track your water consumption – Entering your food intake daily allows you to see the calories you eat against the estimated calories burned. Inputting your water consumption allows you to track your intake and set up digital reminders which allows you to meet your goal.
  3. It monitors your sleep – Wearing your tracker to bed, helps you to track your sleep patterns i.e. length of sleep and how often you get up during night. Knowing this information helps to develop better sleeping habits.
  4. The Challenges – Nothing keeps you more motivated than bit of healthy competition with friends. The challenges allow you to compete against friends, inspire each other, compare steps and provide encouragement by cheering each other on. I love that it gives that extra push to meet daily targets and hold yourself accountable.

Who knew that having a FitBit on my wrist could push me to make better decisions and improve your overall mood. It’s become a part of me and I never leave the house without it.

REVIEW: Authentic French Delights from Babeth’s Feast (and 20% of your first order)

admin | January 27, 2016

As a busy mom, I am always on the lookout for delicious and creative meal solutions to stack up on for days when I don’t feel like cooking (i.e. this past snow day). We don’t eat a lot of frozen meals but there was something about Babeth’s Feast that got me intrigued.
While on a trip to New York last summer, I stumbled across the store while searching for cooking demonstrations around the city. Upon further inspection, I found out that Babeth’s Feast was in fact a gourmet frozen food store nested in the upper east side of Manhattan and the best bit was that they delivered nationwide for a flat rate of $15. Customers are required to purchase a minimum of $50.

The inventory is based around French cuisine and having grown up in Europe, I recognized a lot of my old favorites. With a 25% discount in hand, I ordered quite a few things including a pack of Pains aux raisins x3, a pack of brioche x4, a single portion of Coq au Vin, spinach and goat cheese quiches x2, a box of mini tartes aux fruits, mini crab cakes and chicken marsala mushroom tarts and mushroom lasagne.

While we enjoyed most of what we ordered, the chicken marsala mushroom tarts was probably the favorite. They were delicious and didn’t take long to bake. The pains au raisins took me back. They were just as good as when I last remembered and tasted like they were freshly bought from a bakery. What I didn’t really enjoy was the tartes aux fruits. I would have preferred a crispier pastry.

Overall, I was impressed with the order that I’m hoping to try more products in the next few months. Most of the items were vacuum sealed to maintain freshness.

I would highly recommend Babeth’s feast. They have an extensive inventory from assorted pasta entrees to frozen desserts.

The Tradition Continues as Notara Dance Theatre Presents the 32nd Annual Nutcracker Ballet

admin | November 18, 2015

Stroudsburg – November 16, 2015

The Nutcracker comes to life when the Notara Dance Theatre presents the Nutcracker Ballet on Saturday, November 28 at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM, and Sunday, November 29 at 2:30 PM at the East Stroudsburg High School South Auditorium, 279 North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg, PA. The Balanchine-style choreography, the professional dancers from New York City, and the local ballerinas directed by American Ballet Theatre certified teacher, Sally Notara, are what make this Nutcracker Ballet truly sparkle.

Based on a book by E.T.A. Hoffmann, the Nutcracker Ballet tells the story of Clara, who receives the Nutcracker as a gift at her family’s Christmas Eve party. The Nutcracker is eventually transformed into a handsome young prince, who leads her through an enchanted forest, a glistening snow scene, and on to the Land of Sweets where she meets the Sugar Plum Fairy. As the performance ends, the Sugar Plum Fairy closes the book of dreams, and opens your heart to the magic of the holiday season.

The Notara Dance Theatre’s version of this classical ballet has delighted children and their grown-ups in the Poconos for 31 spectacular seasons. Tchaikovsky’s familiar holiday music transports the audience to a magical land where everything is sweet, with the exception of the swashbuckling sword fight between the Mouse King and the Nutcracker.

The Nutcracker Ballet is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are available at the Box Office one hour prior to show time. To purchase tickets in advance or for more information, visit the website at, email, call 570-421-1718, or visit the Notara School of Dance, 707 Lindbergh Avenue, Stroudsburg, PA.

Notara Dance Theatre is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating and developing the dancer, producing artistry, and expanding the culture and enjoyment of dance in the community.

admin | October 16, 2015

I joined Swagbacks last year but didn’t pay too much attention to it until I spoke to a friend, who told me that she purchase every christmas gift on her list using Swagbacks.

What is Swagbacks?

Swagbucks is the fun rewards program that gives you free gift cards and cash for the everyday things you already do online.

Gift cards range from department stores, restaurants, etc and include Amazon, Paypal, Walmart, Wholefoods, Prepaid Visa cards and much much more.

I decided to give it a try and really love it so far.

In the month of september, I spent at most 3 hours a day and made over $100.00 in gift cards

Most of my Swag bucks (SB’s) were earned by doing surveys, searching for things and doing my Walmart shopping online via their ‘Shop and Earn’ page.

One day I earned 500sb which is equivalent to a $5.00 gift card

By fully exploring the possibilities on Swagbacks, you can learn how every little bit adds up.

Various Ways to increase your Swagbucks

  • Doing your online shopping through the Shop & Earn program
  • Play Games
  • Print Coupons
  • Fill out special offers and deals
  • Referring friends
  • Watching Encrave videos
  • Watch Swaybacks TV
  • Complete Surveys
  • Follow Swaybacks on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for unique codes

One thing I like about Swagbucks is that unlike Bing Rewards and Inbox Dollars, there is not restrictions as to how many sb’s you can accumulate in one day.
