Eric Carle’s ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ will celebrate 45 years on Tuesday

Tuesday June 3 marks 45 years since Eric Carles Iconic book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ was first published. The Very Hungry Caterpillar tells the story of a caterpillar who eats his way through various foodstuff before pupating and emerging as a butterfly. The book has been used as an educational tool with endorsements from the Royal Entomological Society to teach children on the concepts of Metamorphosis in the Lepidoptera.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is among the worlds most popular children’s books with more than 30 million copies sold and more than 55 language translations. As well as being author Eric Carle’s third book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar was the first time that Carle debuted his award-winning signature collage illustrations.
